Outcomes of the project on supporting women’s initiatives in rural tourism
Final meeting of the project on supporting women’s initiatives in rural green tourism in the ethnic ‘Boiko’ area in Ivano-Frankivsk Region was held on August 20, 2008. The project, launched early this year, was implemented by the Regional Tourist and Information Centre with the support of the Ukrainian Women’s Fund.
The project held round tables and workshops for representatives of rural communities from Bolekhiv, Dolyna, and Rozhnyativ Districts. The seminars were devoted to business start-up in rural green tourism and providing services for tourists. In April, the participants went on a study tour to Yaremche area, where they could visit successful guesthouses in Tatariv village.
Guesthouse owners that took part in the project received certificates confirming their readiness to accommodate tourists (basic level at basic level (no category) – the owner is ready to accept guests; category 1 – the guesthouse meets minimum requirements; category 2 – the guesthouse meets the main requirements; category 3 – the highest category). The majority of the houses in the Boiko area currently have a basic level of the first category.
