The International Opening conference of the project “Improve the visibility of the joint cultural heritage through Carpathian Cultural Route”

On March 20, 2025, the International Opening Conference in Romania was held in the framework of a project “Improve the visibility of the joint cultural heritage through Carpathian Cultural Route”, which is implemented by the Development Centre for Small and Medium Sized Enterprises Maramures (Romania) in the partnership with the NGO “Association of Economic Development of Ivano-Frankivsk (AEDIF)” and Ivano-Frankivsk National Technical University of Oil and Gas (Ukraine) in the framework of the Interreg VI-A NEXT Hungary-Slovakia-Romania-Ukraine Programme 2021-2027 (https://next.huskroua-cbc.eu).

The aim of the conference was official inauguration of the project “Valorisation of the historical and cultural heritage through the development and promotion of the Carpathian Cultural Route”.

The International Opening conference was attended by 39 representatives of historical and cultural objects, tourism companies and tourism-related service providers, the government and local self-government institutions, scientists, public organizations of Ivano-Frankivsk and Zakarpattia Region (Ukraine) and Maramures County (Romania).

The information about the project, historical and cultural potential of Ivano-Frankivsk and Zakarpattia Region and Maramures County, activities of the project partners, was presented during the conference. The programme of the conference envisages discussion of the main directions of project realization, which will promote the development of an open dialogue among the conference participants, as well as intersectoral cooperation in the project implementation.

The opening speech was delivered by Mariya Kovaliv – Vice-chairman of the NGO “Association of Economic Development of Ivano-Frankivsk (AEDIF)”, Project Manager. She noted that the successful implementation of project “Carpathian Cultural Route” in 2021-2023 made it possible to continue the work done to improve the visualisation of the existing Carpathian Cultural Route. The project aims to support the valorisation of cultural and historical heritage in the Carpathian Euroregion by expanding the route by 12 new members, 6 in Ukraine and 6 in Romania. This project will accumulate historical and cultural heritage sites of the Carpathian region with other attractions and related services. By combining it with modern digital products, the project will contribute to the socio-economic development of the Carpathian region, preservation and promotion of the local historical and cultural heritage at the interregional and international levels.

Radu Big - the Executive Director of the Development Centre for Small and Medium Sized Enterprises Maramures (Romania), Project General Manager familiarized participants of the conference with the project “Improve the visibility of the joint cultural heritage through Carpathian Cultural Route”, outlined the main tasks and aims of the project.
Oleg Mandryk – Ivano-Frankivsk National Technical University of Oil and Gas (Ukraine), Project Communication Manager, presented the activity of the university as a project partners and Iryna Kinash – Ivano-Frankivsk National Technical University of Oil and Gas (Ukraine), Marketing expert, presented cultural routes and the historical and cultural potential of the Ivano-Frankivsk region. Volodymyr Burdeniuk – Project Coordinator of the NGO “Association of Economic Development of Ivano-Frankivsk (AEDIF)” presented the Ukrainian-Romanian website “Carpathian Cultural Route”.

Participants of the conference discussed the importance of the project implementation in the target region and expressed their willingness to participate in the project activities.

Specific objectives are: to enlarge the integrated cultural heritage product “Carpathian Cultural Route” that connect places of historical and cultural heritage with other attractions and services; to improve the skills and knowledge of cultural tourism representatives through the training and sharing experience program; to improve the visibility of the integrated cultural heritage product “Carpathian Cultural Route” at the regional and international level through the development of digital promotional materials, joint online information sources and mobile application.
