Clean city – healthy people

The Association for Economic Development of Ivano-Frankivsk together with Nadvirna Business Support Fund continues to implement an environmental project “Facilitating Ecological Development in Nadvirna (streets are for people, dustbins are for garbage)”. Financial support for the project comes from the Canadian Fund for Local Initiatives. Nadvirna community has established an expert group made up of representatives of AEDIF partner organizations, Nadvirna Business Support Fund, local governments, and the city council. The group’s goal is to facilitate the project implementation.

The Association’s experts analyze by-laws and regulations related to environmental protection and the treatment of solid waste (collecting, transporting, utilization, treatment proper, landfilling, and limiting its harmful effect on the environment and human health). The experts also review local legislation dealing with solid waste treatment in order to develop recommendations for improving the legislation.

Public awareness campaign about the environmental problems and ways of addressing them offers 4 learning modules on the following topics: “Local Ecological Development. Solutions for Sustainable Development”, “The Role of Youth in Environmental Protection”, “Developing Personal Ecological Culture”, “Efficient System for Solid Waste Treatment”. The project plans to offer 8 workshops. Currently, participants for the workshops are being recruited (teachers from secondary schools and school students from senior grades).

The project also plans to hold an Environment Day for the Nadvirna community.
