The second expert group meeting of the project “Improve the visibility of the joint cultural heritage through Carpathian Cultural Route”

On April 4, 2025, the second expert group meeting was held in Ivano-Frankivsk under the project “Improve the visibility of the joint cultural heritage through Carpathian Cultural Route”, which is implemented by the Development Centre for Small and Medium Sized Enterprises Maramures (Romania) in the partnership with the NGO “Association of Economic Development of Ivano-Frankivsk (AEDIF)” and Ivano-Frankivsk National Technical University of Oil and Gas (Ukraine) in the framework of the Interreg VI-A NEXT Hungary-Slovakia-Romania-Ukraine Programme. The project is co-financed by the European Union.

During the meeting, Mariya Kovaliv – Vice-chairman of the NGO “Association of Economic Development of Ivano-Frankivsk (AEDIF)”, Project Manager, familiarized participants with the results of an analytical research on the analysis and assessment of the potential of Ivano-Frankivsk and Zakarpattia regions to enlarge and promote the Carpathian Cultural Route. As noted by Mariya Kovaliv, the process of planning and managing a cultural route should begin with an understanding, which is the analysis and study of documentation of the route and the region in which it is located. The purpose of the analytical research is to study a set of methods and techniques that can be used to determine the state and main characteristics of the region's potential for expanding and promoting the Carpathian Cultural Route.  The subject of the research is the theoretical and methodological support for the formation and development of the Carpathian Cultural Route. The assessment of the potential of the region and its historical, cultural and tourist resources for the expansion and promotion of the Carpathian Cultural Route was carried out using a set of socio-economic factors. Since the factors themselves require a certain level of specification, the study describes them using a system of statistical indicators with different units of measurement. The research describes the regional factors that influence decision-making and determine the quality of the environment in which the Carpathian Cultural Route is formed. After all, the socio-economic environment in which a cultural route exists is important. In this regard, it is necessary to take into account not only the current socio-economic situation of the region, but also the potential that this region has, which has a direct impact on the further development of the Carpathian Cultural Route. This research will contribute to the process of enlarging and promoting the Carpathian Cultural Route, attracting the necessary resources, and establishing contacts with potential participants of the route.

Liudmyla Arkhypova – Professor of the Department of Ecology of the Ivano-Frankivsk National Technical University of Oil and Gas, Project Manager, reported on the state of the sociological survey. Volodymyr Burdeniuk – Project Coordinator of the NGO “Association of Economic Development of Ivano-Frankivsk (AEDIF)”, reported on the state of formation of the database of Carpathian Cultural Route. Vitaliy Perederko – Deputy Head of Department - Head of the Tourism Department of the European Integration of Communities and Tourism Department of the International Cooperation and European Integration of Communities of the Ivano-Frankivsk Regional State Administration, Chairman of the Expert Group, noted the importance of conducting both analytical and sociological research. He also noted the need to take into account the updated Ivano-Frankivsk regional development strategy in the analytical research. Oleg Mandryk – Professor of the Department of Ecology of the Ivano-Frankivsk National Technical University of Oil and Gas, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Project Manager for Communications noted the conduct of a very extensive and thorough analytical research, the preparatory stage in the sociological survey on the inclusion of historical and cultural heritage sites in the Carpathian Cultural Route, and the work carried out to form a database.

The discussion of these project activities (analytical research, sociological survey, database) was attended by:  Halyna Bednarchyk – Acting Director of the Ivano-Frankivsk Museum of Local Lore, Lydia Kvasnyuk  –  Deputy Director for Educational Work of the Kosiv Institute of Applied and Decorative Arts, Roman Shevchyk – local development and business expert.
