April, 2022 Presentation of the project “Valorisation of the historical and cultural heritage through the development and promotion of the Carpathian Cultural Route” at the seminar On April 19, 2022 Mariya Kovaliv – Vice-chairman of the public organization “Association of Economic Development of Ivano-Frankivsk (AEDIF)”, project manager, familiarized participants with the "Implementation of the cross-border cooperation project “Valorisation of the historical and cultural heritage through the development and promotion of the Carpathian Cultural Route” at an online seminar organized by Ivano-Frankivsk Regional Сenter for Retraining and Advanced Training of Public Authorities, Local Governments, Heads of State Enterprises, Institutions and Organizations. In her speech, Mariya Kovaliv a detailed analysis of the implementation of the project “Valorisation of the historical and cultural heritage through the development and promotion of the Carpathian Cultural Route” for 8 months during the project implementation and during the Russian-Ukrainian war was presented to the seminar participants. The speaker paid special attention to the implementation of the project specific objective 1, namely the creation of an integrated tourist product of cultural heritage "Carpathian Cultural Route", which combines historical and cultural heritage sites with other attractions and related services. According to Mariya Kovaliv, the development of the Carpathian Cultural Route as an integrated tourist product of cultural heritage is based on the results of analytical research, sociological surveys and database, networks of interested institutions and organizations to establish strong partnerships within the Carpathian Cultural Route, brand building. and marketing strategy to promote the Carpathian Cultural Route. The route includes the most significant and interesting objects of historical and cultural heritage of the region and will support the development of cultural tourism and local culture and preservation of historical heritage in the Carpathian region. During her speech, Mariya Kovaliv described the activities of the project expert group in Ukraine, headed by Vitaliy Perederko, Head of the Tourism Department of the Department of International Cooperation, European Integration, Tourism and Investment of the Ivano-Frankivsk Regional State Administration. The Expert Group on the implementation of the project “Valorisation of the historical and cultural heritage through the development and promotion of the Carpathian Cultural Route” is a temporary advisory body established to ensure the implementation of the project by the project beneficiary of Ivano-Frankivsk region. Mariya Kovaliv noted that members of expert groups in Ukraine and Romania agreed on the implementation of the project, considered at meetings of expert groups and approved, namely the creation of the Carpathian Cultural Route as an integrated tourist product of cultural heritage and the development of the Carpathian Cultural Route; conducting an analytical research to study the state and prospects of the Carpathian Cultural Route; conducting sociological surveys on the inclusion of historical and cultural heritage objects in the Carpathian Cultural Route; formation of a database of Carpathian Cultural Route. The implementation of the project will increase the number of tourists in the region, the development of tourism business along the route, improving the image of the region as a popular tourist region and a region with a common tourist destination. Project “Valorisation of the historical and cultural heritage through the development and promotion of the Carpathian Cultural Route” is realized by the NGO “Association of Economic Development of Ivano-Frankivsk (AEDIF)” in the partnership with Development Centre for Small and Medium Sized Enterprises Maramures (Romania) and Ivano-Frankivsk National Technical University of Oil and Gas (Ukraine) in the framework of the Hungary-Slovakia-Romania-Ukraine ENI CBC Programme 2014-2020. This project is co-financed by the European Union. Overall objective of the Project is support to valorisation of the cultural and historical heritage in the Carpathian Euroregion through the development and promotion of the Carpathian Cultural Route as integrated cultural heritage tourism product within the cross-border regions of Romania and Ukraine. Specific objectives: 1. To create an integrated cultural heritage tourism product “Carpathian Cultural Route” that connect places of historical and cultural heritage with other attractions and services. 2. To improve the skills and knowledge of cultural tourism representatives through the training programme. 3. To promote an integrated cultural heritage tourism product “Carpathian Cultural Route” in the regional and international markets through the development of promotional materials, joint online information sources and mobile application. Total duration of the Project: 24 months. Total budget of the Project: EUR 366 746,66. Locations of the Project: Ukraine (Ivano-Frankivsk Region, Zakarpattia Region), Romania (Maramures County). Target groups: historical and cultural objects, tourism companies and tourism-related service providers, the government and local self-government institutions, scientists, relevant civil society institutions. Estimated results: Quantitative results: 1 Steering Committee; 4 meetings of Steering Committee; 2 project expert groups; 2 conferences (60 participants); 8 expert group meetings; 2 round tables sessions (40 participants); 1 analytic research (Ukrainian, Romanian, integrated); 1 sociological survey (Ukrainian, Romanian, integrated); 1 database; 1integrated cultural heritage tourism product "Carpathian Cultural Route"; 20 digital tourist information points and 20 tourist information stands; 1 network (50 members); 4 training modules and 1 workshop (40 participants); 1 study tour (19 participants); 1 trilingual catalogue; 1 trilingual promotional brochure; 1 trilingual map, 1 website; 1mobile application. Qualitative results: promotion of historical and cultural heritage along with tourism functions; establishment of active cross-border cooperation between Ukrainian and Romanian institutions for development and promotion of integrated cultural heritage tourism product “Carpathian Cultural Route”; support the preservation and promotion of local historical and cultural heritage at the interregional and international levels; creating a favorable environment for further implementation of joint Ukrainian-Romanian projects, programs and activities; increased level of involvement of historical and cultural objects in the cultural route; increase of the awareness, competence, knowledge, skills and experience of the cultural route development among representatives of historical and cultural objects, tourism companies, SMEs, local government, NGOs; improving access to information and use of modern means of disseminating cultural tourism information; establishment of the active cross-border cooperation between different target groups on both sides of the border; increase of attractiveness and positive image of the Carpathians as a region with joint tourism destination; increase in the number of tourists and visitors.
