The second Steering Committee meeting of the project «Promotion of investment opportunities and cooperation between small and medium-sized enterprises through development of cross-border ties in the Carpathian region» 

 

The second Steering Committee meeting took place on December 11, 2014 in Ivano-Frankivsk in the framework of the project «Promotion of investment opportunities and cooperation between small and medium-sized enterprises through development of cross-border ties in the Carpathian region», the aim of which is the strengthening of social and economic development in the Carpathian Region by fostering cooperation among small and medium sized enterprises in order to solve regional problems in investment, creation of a favourable investment climate in Ukrainian-Romanian cross-border region, improvement of its image through cross-border cooperation.

The project is realized by the Association of Economic Development of Ivano-Frankivsk and Development Centre for Small and Medium Sized Enterprises Maramures (Romania) in partnership with the Department for International Cooperation, European Integration and Tourist Infrastructure of Ivano-Frankivsk Regional State Administration in the framework of the Hungary-Slovakia-Romania-Ukraine ENPI Cross-border Cooperation Programme 2007-2013.

The Steering Committee meeting was visited by the representatives of partner organizations, involved in the process of project implementation.

During the meeting Maria Kovaliv – Vice-chairman of the Board of the Association of Economic Development of Ivano-Frankivsk, project manager, made a report on the project implementation course and its main results in the 1st and the 2nd semester, familiarized the meeting participants with achieved results of the project, namely the setting up and activity of the project expert groups, the analytical research «Analysis and assessment of investment environment in the Carpathian region», sociological research on the study of the opinion of small and medium-sized enterprises directors concerning the determination of possibilities, risks and obstacles to investment activity in the Carpathian Region (Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast and Maramures County), organization and holding a 4-day long international workshop «Practical aspects of investment attraction and support of investment projects».

The discussion was supported by Viktor Rudnytskyy – Chairman of the Board of the Association of Economic Development of Ivano-Frankivsk, Radu Big – Executive Manager of Development Centre for Small and Medium Sized Enterprises Maramures (Romania), Zinoviy Mazur – Head of the Department for Interregional Cooperation, Investment and External Economic Activity of the Department for International Cooperation and Interregional Integration of the Department for International Cooperation, European Integration and Tourist Infrastructure Development of Ivano-Frankivsk Regional State Administration, Margareta Capilnean – Project Coordinator of Development Centre for Small and Medium Sized Enterprises Maramures (Romania).

Main directions of project implementation in 2015, its main objectives and measures were outlined during the meeting. Special attention was paid to preparation and organization of the International Investment Forum, creation of a database, development of promotional material, namely a three-lingual guide of experience with successful practices; a three-lingual promotional brochure about the investment attractiveness of the region; a three-lingual map of investment potential of the Carpathian Region and a three-lingual catalogue of investment proposals in the region.

Members of the project Steering Committee expressed their suggestions and recommendations concerning the further implementation of the project, discussed the importance of the project Steering Committee activity as a public body set up in the framework of the project.
