April, 2014 Workshops for interviewers. Workshops for interviewers were held in Ivano-Frankivsk on April 10th and 17th, 2014, in the framework of the project “Promotion of investment opportunities and cooperation between small and medium sized enterprises through development of cross-border ties in the Carpathian region”, which is realized by the Association of Economic Development of Ivano-Frankivsk in partnership with the Development Centre for Small and Medium Sized Enterprises Maramures (Romania) and Department for Implementation of Economic Reforms, European Union Integration, and Investments of Ivano-Frankivsk Regional State Administration in the framework of the Hungary-Slovakia-Romania-Ukraine ENPI Cross-border Cooperation Programme 2007-2013. The aim of the workshops is to raise the level of knowledge and professional skills of the participants in the sphere of conducting a sociological research, namely the sociological interview and the interviewers’ work. 15 participants from different districts and towns of Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast took part in the workshops. Among them are the representatives of the Association of Economic Development of Ivano-Frankivsk, higher education institutions, public organizations of regional and local levels, and experts in researches. Maria Kovaliv – vice-chairman of the Board of the Association of Economic Development of Ivano-Frankivsk, project manager, familiarized participants with the project “Promotion of investment opportunities and cooperation between small and medium sized enterprises through development of cross-border ties in the Carpathian region”, outlined the main tasks and measures of the project, familiarized participants with the conducting of sociological research, the aim of which is to study the investment activity of small and medium-sized enterprises, the main tendencies of business development, determination of possibilities, risks and obstacles in investment activity in the region (Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast (Ukraine) and Maramures County (Romania)). Workshop participants familiarized themselves with the theoretical course, namely the methodology of conducting the sociological research, general overview of methodology of survey, the aim of particular survey and the interviewer’s role in it; the quality of sociological research; Code of Professional Ethics and Practices, developed by The World Association for Public Opinion Research (WAPOR); compiling the research programme; general and selective samples, methodological aspects of compilation of samples; preparation of research instruments, the questionnaire, interviewer instruction; the notion, stages and types of questions of a sociological interview; organisation of collection of primary sociological information; control of interviewer’s work. Workshop participants, besides theoretical knowledge, had an opportunity to participate in discussions, exchange their experience in working groups, during practical classes, and carry out an experimental interview.
