October, 2026 International Scientific and Practical Conference “Carpathian Culture Day” in Ukraine On October 1, 2026, the International Scientific and Practical Conference “Carpathian Culture Day” in Ukraine was held within the framework of the project “Improve the visibility of the joint cultural heritage through Carpathian Cultural Route”, which is implemented by the Development Centre for Small and Medium Sized Enterprises Maramures (Romania) in the partnership with the NGO “Association of Economic Development of Ivano-Frankivsk (AEDIF)” (Ukraine) and Ivano-Frankivsk National Technical University of Oil and Gas (Ukraine) in the framework of the Interreg VI-A NEXT Hungary-Slovakia-Romania-Ukraine Programme 2021-2027 (https://next.huskroua-cbc.eu). More than 50 participants of historical and cultural sites, protected natural areas, scientists, and civil society organizations from the Ivano-Frankivsk, Zakarpattia, Chernivtsi, and Lviv Regions of Ukraine and Maramureș County (Romania) took part in the International Scientific and Practical Conference “Carpathian Culture Day” in Ukraine. The conference participants presented their reports in the following areas:
Representing the NGO “Association of Economic Development of Ivano-Frankivsk (AEDIF)”, Mariya Kovaliv (Vice-Сhairman, Project Manager) and Volodymyr Burdeniuk (Project Coordinator) delivered a presentation entitled “Integrated Cultural Heritage Tourism Product “Carpathian Cultural Route”. During their presentation, they introduced the conference participants to the background of the creation of the Carpathian Cultural Route, its concept and development, as well as its updating. The “Carpathian Cultural Route” is a unique cross-border integrated tourism product that brings together significant historical and cultural heritage sites in Ukraine (Ivano-Frankivsk and Zakarpattia regions) and Romania (Maramureș County). The Carpathian Cultural Route was created to promote local culture, crafts, and architectural monuments, with the aim of transforming cultural heritage into a powerful tourism resource. The route starts in Ukraine in the city of Rohatyn (Ivano-Frankivsk Region), passes through significant locations in Prykarpattia and Zakarpattia, and ends in Maramureș County, Romania. The Carpathian Cultural Route includes 54 of the region’s most significant cultural heritage sites. The product combines cultural and historical monuments with protected natural areas and related services, including traditional crafts, local cuisine, and recreational facilities. Overall objective of the Project is to improve the visibility of the existing Carpathian Cultural Route as an instrument aimed to support the valorisation of the cultural and historical heritage in the Carpathian Euroregion. Specific objectives are: to enlarge the integrated cultural heritage product “Carpathian Cultural Route” that connects places of historical and cultural heritage with other attractions and services; to improve the skills and knowledge of cultural tourism representatives through the training and sharing experience program; to improve the visibility of the integrated cultural heritage product “Carpathian Cultural Route” at the regional and international level through the development of digital promotional materials, joint online information sources and mobile application.
