February, 2026 Second International Workshop of the project “Improve the visibility of the joint cultural heritage through Carpathian Cultural Route” From 25 to 27 February 2026, Second International Online Workshop on cultural heritage was held within the framework of the project “Improve the visibility of the joint cultural heritage through Carpathian Cultural Route”, which is implemented by the Maramureș County SME Development Center (Romania) in partnership with the NGO “Association of Economic Development of Ivano-Frankivsk (AEDIF)” (Ukraine) and Ivano-Frankivsk National Technical University of Oil and Gas (Ukraine) in the framework of the Interreg VI-A NEXT Hungary-Slovakia-Romania-Ukraine Programme 2021-2027 (https://next.huskroua-cbc.eu). The project is co-funded by the European Union. More than 70 participants from the Ukrainian and Romanian sides took part in the Second International Workshop on the ZOOM platform. These are representatives of historical and cultural objects, state authorities and local governments, as well as national natural parks and reserves, tourism service providers and public organizations, scientists from higher educational institutions of Ukraine. The workshop participants became acquainted with a theoretical course, namely: “Capitalizing on intangible cultural heritage – between tradition and modernity” and “Restoration of wooden monuments”. As part of the workshop, presentations were delivered showcasing the experience and activities of sites along the Carpathian Cultural Route in Romania and Ukraine. On the first day of the International Workshop on February 25, 2026, the participants of the workshop were welcomed by: Radu Big – Executive Director of the Center for the Development of Small and Medium Enterprises Maramureș, Dr. of Engineering (Romania), Project General Director; Mariya Kovaliv – Vice-Chairman of the NGO “Association for Economic Development of Ivano-Frankivsk (AEDIF)” (Ukraine), Project Manager; Liudmyla Arkhypova – Professor at the Department of Ecology of the Ivano-Frankivsk National Technical University of Oil and Gas, Project Manager; Marian Ferțadi – Expert at the Maramureș Branch of the Joint Secretariat of the Interreg NEXT Hungary-Slovakia-Romania-Ukraine Programme; Steliana Cojocariu – Ministry of Economy, Digitalization, Entrepreneurship and Tourism; Directorate General for Tourism. Delia Suiogan – Associate Professor, Doctor of Philosophy (PhD), North University Center of Baia Mare, Technical University of Cluj-Napoca (UTCN), Faculty of Philology, in the field of Cultural Studies, opened Session 1: “Capitalizing on intangible cultural heritage – between tradition and modernity”, complementing her lecture with video materials from ethnological expeditions. On February 26, 2026, the International Online Workshop continued its work. Architect Laura Zaharia opened Session 2: “Restoration of Wooden Monuments”. Monica Mare (Maramureș County Museum of Ethnography and Folk Art, Baia Mare) and Roman Konovalov (Head of the Department “Museum of Ethnography” of the National Reserve “Ancient Halych”) presented to the audience the sites of the Carpathian Cultural Route. On February 27, 2026, the final third day of the international workshop took place. Delia Suiogan – Associate Professor, Doctor of Philosophy (PhD), North University Center of Baia Mare, Technical University of Cluj-Napoca (UTCN), Faculty of Philology, in the field of Cultural Studies, concluded Session 1 “Capitalizing on intangible cultural heritage – between tradition and modernity” and architect Laura Zaharia – Session 2 “Restoration of wooden monuments”. On this day of the workshop, sites of the Carpathian Cultural Route from Ukraine and Romania were presented:Mirela Ana Barz (Maramures Museum, Sighetu Marmatiei Romania, muzeum manager) and Volodymyr Gaidar (Director of the Municipal Enterprise “Space of Innovative Creations “Palace”). Reference: Project “Improve the visibility of the joint cultural heritage through Carpathian Cultural Route” isimplemented in the framework of the Interreg VI-A NEXT Hungary-Slovakia-Romania-Ukraine Programme (https://next.huskroua-cbc.eu). Overall objective of the Project is to improve the visibility of the existing Carpathian Cultural Route as an instrument aimed to support the valorisation of the cultural and historical heritage in the Carpathian Euroregion. Specific objectives are: to enlarge the integrated cultural heritage product “Carpathian Cultural Route” that connect places of historical and cultural heritage with other attractions and services; to improve the skills and knowledge of cultural tourism representatives through the training and sharing experience program; to improve the visibility of the integrated cultural heritage product “Carpathian Cultural Route” at the regional and international level through the development of digital promotional materials, joint online information sources and mobile application.
